Warning - Mastering Error - Digital Glitch on Track 11 Sep 11, 2008
First of all this is a great CD - and I am glad its being reissued.
Unfortunately Rhino has a mastering error on Track 11 at roughly 4:02 into the CD and it has a digital glitch - skip sound on the CD.
I am not sure if I got a bad copy or if all are like this. I have contacted Rhino for help.
(5 stars for the music - 1 star for the quality of the CD)
**** UPDATE **** I emailed Rhino and they are going to send me a new CD. I will update the review if all is well with the new CD or a glitch on all. I was surprised how quick that Rhino responded - very good customer service!!

This album brings back very fond memories of my late cousin! My sister and I would play this from sun up to sun down in my grandmother's home in Charleston SC. Aretha never looked more elegant as she does on this cover, and the music is right in sinc! "Til you come back to me" and "With Pen in Hand" shows how Aretha's voice can soar above beautiful strings and orcestration. This is a long awaited reissue and a must for all of her fans. It is also, sadly, represents an era that is now gone when music, lyrics and elegant presentation was important aspects of artistry. Let Aretha In Your Life with this fabulous recording!!

The Aretha Franklin I love best-- this CD is a lighter Aretha but with bold strong flavor-- for those who find the 60's stuff too heavy, Aretha's "Let Me in Your Life" is the beginning of a more contemporary Franklin. Best bet: "Until You Come Back to Me."

This cd is one of the best Aretha has released. My cousin used to play this lp years ago. All of this set is great, but my favorites are: With Pen In Hand-those women are chirping the background on this one, though it is not the Sweet Inspirations...If it was, Cissy would've ate the high note for breakfast, lunch & dinner!), (I'm afraid)The Masquerade is Over, Oh Baby & A Song For You. I'm waiting for the lp, "With Everything I Feel In Me", to be released on cd. That's the other lp, where she has a white fur on. I always loved the picture on the Let Me In Your Life lp/cd.

Do not shop from CAIMAN. They advertise it on stock but they don't and have never carried it.
