Enjoyable singer/songwriter music Oct 23, 2008 While not profound musically or lyrically, Paddy Casey's Addicted To Company has strong melodies and some good messages in the lyrics. "Fear" is about how he worries about his child having the same future he had. The CD is also pretty diverse. Breezy music on a nice fall day.
Fresh New Music Jul 25, 2008 For those who like traditional Irish music, or who like an alternative sound with lots of guitar work, this singer should appeal to both of you. Casey does some very good acoustic playing, but can also plug in his guitar when he feels the need to.
I highly recommend this album.
Office-friendly fav, easy-to-like CD! Jul 20, 2008 Paddy Casey was being talked about when we were in Ireland, so I found his latest U.S. release and admit that he's instantly easy to enjoy and sounds so FM pop/alt/mainstream that you'll welcome the album. Not one bad track; pretty mellow. Nothing loud or bangy; It gets played a lot at our office. I leave the playing CD on the counter, and Paddy is well-accepted from "I like this" to "I've never heard of this guy before..."
Check him out on Youtube!
Surpisingly endearing and catchy Jul 17, 2008 I admit it. I must have put this CD into the player 3 or 4 times before I finally listened to all the tracks. The first 2 tracks (my least favorite on the CD) put me off listening to the rest for quite a while.
However, this CD is now in heavy rotation in the car and on my iPod. Casey's writing and voice remind me so much of the "story telling" singers from the 70s. Sometimes while listening to these songs, if I didn't know what CD was playing, I would swear I was hearing Harry Nilsson. Casey has a soothing, melodic voice that works well with a range of songs as evidenced by the remarkably different songs represented on this CD. I think my favorite is "Not Out to Get You," but all these songs have grown on me.
I love the lyrics. I love Casey's voice. And now I'll count myself as a fan!
Paddy Casey Live Jun 14, 2008 I saw Paddy at SXSW where he played live. I used my DVR to record his performance when it was rebroadcast and then replayed it repeatedly (because I liked it soo much) to tide me over until his album finally came out. When I got the album, my first impression was that I liked him so much better without all the "production" and accompanying musicians that you hear on Addicted to Company. Although acoustic live Paddy Casey is best, all of you who weren't lucky enough to experience, should definately buy the album. EVERY song is great, first to last, which is rare.
