The Story CD by Brandi Carlile Nov 09, 2008 I recently heard "The Story" during the Olympic coverage and was really taken by the song. I had since seen the video and heard the entire song, along with several others and found that I liked Brandi Carlile's music.
The album has 13 great songs on it.
I have listened to it over and over again and will very likely purchase more of her music in the future. I feel she has the same quality and style of music as Allison Krause, but slightly different. A real winner in my mind.
Brndi Carlile Nov 01, 2008 Good CD,not great. This CD was kind of a middle of the road/generic no chartbusters in the tracks.
More great Brandi music Sep 05, 2008 "The Story" was the first Brandi Carlile album I purchased after seeing her open for the Indigo Girls in Freeport in 07. I loved the album and literally listened it to death. After seeing her open her show with "Follow" this year (in the rain) I wanted to expand my collection. This album is also wonderful, though the cello isn't featured as fully in this album. He was there, but they didn't give him as much volume. Such a shame. Still, the music is brilliant. If you like folk rolk with a strong female vocal lead, you're going to love Brandi. This new album prompted me to pull out one of my old Cheryl Wheeler albums and I can see Cheryl's flavor in Brandi's music. It's excellent work from a rising star. You absolutely must hear her do Halleleuja and Folsom Prison to get the whole "experience." I'm forever indebted to LL Bean, WCLZ, and WMVY for making the introductions.
This Girl Can Sing. Aug 26, 2008 Think of Patsy Cline performing Radiohead songs, and you'd have Brandi Carlile. With her 2005 self-titled debut, Austin-based singer-songwriter, Brandi Carlile caught my attention with her uniquely gifted voice and authentic blend of alternative country, blues, indie, pop, and folk. She has been compared to musical geniuses like Patsi Cline, Thom Yorke of Radiohead, Aimee Mann, Roy Orbison, and Jeff Buckley. Yes, she is really that good. The ten truly sublime songs featured on this album (with bonus tracks including a live Elton John cover of "Sixty Years On") include:
1. Follow 4:14
2. What Can I Say 2:51
3. Closer To You 2:52
4. Throw It All Away 3:44
5. Happy 2:31
6. Someday Never Comes 2:47
7. Fall Apart Again 3:37
8. In My Own Eyes 3:30
9. Gone 3:05
10. Tragedy 3:49
11. Sixty Years On (Live) 3:49
12. Tragedy (Austin Cello Version) 3:45

Awesome talent Aug 02, 2008 This CD will embrace and move you. She has a powerful voice and a distinctive quality that I don't know how to describe other than to say it sounds like Seattle rock and Nashville country. Very moving.
