Absolutely Superb in All Ways Apr 08, 2008 ...Oh yes, just like every other Grey's Anatomy viewer, I was introduced to Matt Kearney through one of the episodes. The absolutely brilliant song Breathe In Breathe Out deserves total attention from listeners and TV viewers alike. The unique mix of acoustics, R&B, hiphop, a little blues and rap make Matt Kearney's music noticeably different.
Kearney's voice, is elusive though! He sounds like Chris Martin (Coldplay) but better...he is talented no doubt and he is new and fresh and knows how to write powerful and deep lyrics. I bought the album 4 weeks ago and still listening to it every day and even when I am travelling on my ipod. His occasional rap-attempts I found interesting, not bad or odd at all. Not a single song that will make anyone disappointed or regret the purchase. The ones I like best are Renaissance, Where We Gonna Go From Here, All I Need, Crashing Down, Nothing Left Lose, In The Middle, Wait and Bullet. I listened to the entire album over and over again watching the waves near San Francisco Bay!
Laid back Apr 08, 2008 Good chilled out music. Dude has a great voice and some catchy tunes, I'm looking forward to another Mat Kearney album. Definitely recommend if you like the sound of the previews, it's consistently good through the whole CD.
Great rhythm, lyrics and voice! Mar 22, 2008 I haven't bought a cd in a while that I liked to listen to from first to last song. Mat Kearney's voice is fantastic. Even when I haven't listened to the album for a while, I find myself singing his songs to myself... Recommended!
Fantasicful Dec 05, 2007 Came right on time, product was perfectly described and the CD is ballin! Nothing but praise--

3-1/2 stars -- You ought to know Mat Oct 30, 2007 Mat Kearney is another musician that was introduced to me as a VH1 You Oughta Know artist, and he is even co-headlining the corresponding tour. And his major label debut Nothing Left to Lose is pretty good.
Highlights include "All I Need", "Where We Gonna Go From Here" and the metaphoric "Girl America". And if you're lucky enough to own the version of the album that includes "Breathe in Breathe Out", you should know that IT'S a standout as well. I find it surprising, though, that that song didn't blow up all that much especially since it was featured on Grey's Anatomy; after all, it worked for the Fray.
Anyway, the only thing that really brings the album down in Mat's rapping on certain songs. It's not that the rapping is bad by any means, but he raps the exact same way on every such track, which may make you start to wonder exactly which song you're listening to; it's like he's the Eminem of contemporary rock (sorry, Em, but I lost a little respect for you after Encore). But Nothing Left to Lose is still an above-average album; let's just hope Mat learns to switch up his flow in the future.
