Good CD, but not their best. Nov 11, 2007 If you're a Dog's Eye View fan, a must buy. If you've never heard them before I'd say still buy, but be sure to also buy their debut album, with hit "Small Wonder." That album made me a fan.

Just because it's different doesn't mean it's bad... Mar 10, 2006 The previous Dog's Eye View albums had a more acoustic, mellow tone, true. They were also written and released a long time ago, and times have changed and musical styles have evolved within that time. On Peter Stuart's weblog I read that he's currently listening to Deathcab for Cutie and other eclectic/electonica-rock bands, which is bound to influence his own music writing.
What has remained constant, on this album and the previous, is that his music tells a story, and if you listen to the lyrics you can get inside the man singing them.
I recommend catching the live acoustic shows that Peter Stuart plays. He has lots of personality, and he shares stories about his songs and his past relationships.

not what I expected Feb 20, 2006 I enjoyed Dog's Eye View's first and second discs as well as Propeller, Peter Stuart's solo. This current cd is way over-produced with a lot of electronica and syn-music. Not what I expected, esp. given the acoustic/straightforward rock/pop on the first two discs. I was anxiously awaiting the release of this latest disc, but I'm very disappointed. Also, I saw Peter Stuart solo at a small club and he was not very good. I would have preferred him with a band.

Pure pop for now people! Jan 28, 2006 And like Nick Lowe's classic 1978 LP, Mr. Stuart -- the voice, brains and everything behind Dog's Eye View -- writes music and lyrics that are engaging, catchy and wow, man, after repeat listenings show depth beyond his years.
Check it out or at least download "Gone Like Yesterday" on your ipod . . . and if you get the opportunity, see Peter perform live. I saw him with just an acoustic guitar and a self-deprecating, Bill-Hicks inspired sense of humor one night -- 45 minutes later he had 300 new fans. He's that good . . . among a handful of singer/songwriters that are worth a listen.
