Fabulous!! Mar 28, 2008 One of the best cd's I've heard in a long time. Howie Day has an amazing voice and has so many different styles and layers - I would highly recommend this to anyone!
Just gets better with successive listenings Jan 18, 2008 First, let me say I much prefer this album to his earlier "Australia," which some reviewers feel was better. I think it depends on which record you happened to hear first, which sets in place your expectations for what Howie's music should sound like.
"Stop All the World" has more energy, better production and is just a more well-rounded album. "Australia" is more personal, angst-filled and, in my opinion, a bit morose. There is passion aplenty on "Stop All the World," and after two years of listening, I still find myself blown away at certain passages or musical segments (e.g., Brace Yourself and I'll Take You On). I very much look forward to Day's third album.
A truly great and talented artist Jan 12, 2008 Howie Day's album was released years ago and then got a re-release a while later. This is one of the best albums I have ever bought. I first bought this CD in 2003 for the song "Collide", but then discovered that these are one of those one in a lifetime artists who has mega talent that is on the verge of becoming a true mega star. Hopefully Howie will realize that and get his personal life together because he has too much talent to let it go to waste. Unlike many of his other fans, I personally like his new and updated stuff then his old stuff. What I mean is that I like the "She Says" and "Ghost" updated versions better than the versions heard on his previous albums "Madrigals" and "Australia". Not to say those versions are bad, they just seem to lack the emotion that he uses in the updated versions. On Stop all the world now you will not find "Ghost", but you will find a bunch of other great songs. Lets start with "She Says", which is my favorite song of all-time of any artist I have ever heard. The lyrics and the emotion coming out of Howie's voice on this track are amazing (Throughout the whole song). Its also one of those songs that makes you think what its about. The first time you hear it you think oh so simple to know what he is singing about, but when you listen to it over and over you will develop different interpretations about the song. Would take to long to explain, just buy the cd and listen to this song. Some of the other songs worth mentioning are "Collide", which you should remember hearing unless you live under a rock. There is "Brace Yourself", and "Perfect time of Day" that are more pop/rock uptempo sounding. There are two terrific and under appreciated tracks like "Numbness of sound" and "You and a Promise", which are great, great songs. There are two more great songs that let you feel the emotion and talent that Howie has in his arsenal, which are "I'll take you on" and "End of our Days". If you get the rerelease you will also get 3 bonus songs and 2 acoustic songs. "Standing in the Sun" would have to be my favorite of the extra 5 songs and the other 4 are good too. Buy this CD and listen to it before Howie's next album comes out. Hopefully this year! A++++
Irresistable! Oct 08, 2007 After listening to this song over the radio for so long, I still found it too irresistable not to buy it. I just had to get it for myself. Simply irresistable, simply...gratifying. The song "collide" is exceptional.

Howie Day - Stop All The World Now Jan 30, 2007 Well, a lot of you looking at this album may only know Howie Day for his one song 'Collide'(Well thats who anyone in England who's heard of Howie Day knows him for!!). You might be thinking 'Is it worth buying the album for just the one song?' Well I can tell you I was in the same position. I took the gamble and brought the album because I hate singles!
Well after listening to the album, starting for the very beginning I found the gamble had worked. Songs such as 'She Says' are beautifully written and sound good if not better than 'Collide'. Throughout the Album Howie Day desplays his lyrical and musical ability, the music gets better as you go through the album.
Those of you who are into 'Lifehouse', 'Switchfoot' and to an extent '3 Doors Down' and 'Goo Goo Dolls', this is really a must have, but those who are still confused - BUY the album because you get a lot more for your moneys worth than just getting the single.
Listening to it now, its one you can't get bored of because its not an artist they overplaye on the radio consistently. I'm looking up to a follow up on this album!!
