AWESOME Jul 12, 2004 At first, when I bought this CD, I thought the offspring had lost their touch and abilitities (this means i don't think that Americana and Conspiracy of One stink, they are both good albums). I figured that their day was over, or they were just lacking ideas at the time. So I had stowed this CD away in my rack for about two months, then I was bored and just listened to it again, and I was just confused on how I could think this CD ever sucked! The absence of its sound somehow made it better. Its main flaw is that it is pretty short. Here is a rating of all the songs from 1-10.1. Neocon-Intro, but different from those of the last four CDs. It has real playing and not just pointless talking like "When we're ready to sing, we step up to the microphoones and it comes out something like this" (Intro, from Conspiracy of one) A good buildup to a great CD. 7/10 2. The Noose-One of the best Offspring songs ever, fast-paced and loud. Lyrics are sort of apocylyptic. 11/10 3. The Long Way Home-Sounds Nirvana-ish. Cool. 7/10 4. Hit That-The accompanying single to this CD. Can't classify it into any genre. Pretty cool. Greg K gives a really weird bassline that is tough to play (Yes, I play bass). 10/10 5. Race Against Myself-Poppy, slightly better than mediocre. Sounds better-suited for Americana (genre, not quality). 6/10 6. (Can't Get My) Head Around You- Pretty neat guitar work, especially Noodles' solo with the wah-wah effect. 9/10 7. The Worst Hangover Ever-Ska song. Pretty weird, but fun. I hope this song helps detewr any drinking that may happen in the future. 8. Never Gonna Find Me-One of the fastest Offspring songs. 8/10 The ending transitions to... 9. Lightning Rod-Semi-fast, weird, and for some reason, chills my spine. That is why I like it. 8/10 10. Spare Me the Details-The Offsprings' softest song. Pretty good. Sounds sort of Hawaiian at first, then adds distortion. The lyrics are about the pain a cheating girlfriend that is majorly increased by friends rubbing it in. I hear it is about a similar experience that happened to Kevin Wasserman (aka Noodles). 11. Da Hui-About as fast as Never Gonna Find Me. Bass starts, then drums, then guitar and Dexter start singing. This is the song that created the need for a clean version. Still, pretty cool. 9/10 12. When You're in Prison-A joke ending to the CD. Pointless. No rating. JUST BUY THE DARN CD!!! YOU WON"T BE SORRY IF YOU LIKE THE OFFSPRING!!!

Its pretty good... Jun 27, 2004 I think this is a pretty good Offspring CD. My favorite song has to be Cant get my head around you. Really fast and exciting. It overall doesnt have many bad songs except 7 and 12, other than that its all good in the neighborhood. If you dont already have Smash, i would recommend that first, but this is a great CD to have with your Offspring collection. (if you collect them, i wouldnt really know...)

Clean versions suck Jun 15, 2004 What's the point of a clean version of a CD. It's just stupid. Your kids aren't gonna have nightmares of hearing some "bad" words. It's so blown out of proportion this cencorship thing. Wake up, your an idiot if you buy this instead of the origional.

The Art of Yelling Feb 09, 2004 Dexter Holland has perfected the Art of Yelling. I have been a fan of Offspring since I first heard `Come Out and Play' on the radio in 1995. IT'S ABOUT TIME this band came out with an edited version of one of their CDs. All of their albums have an excess of f--- words, with the exception of their 1989 self-titled debut (one occurrence of this), and Conspiracy of One (no occurrences of this). I buy edited versions of CDs when available because everyone is happier when there are less of the types of words that warrant editing. This album has the best drumming of any Offspring album to date, not because their drummer got better but because he left the band and Josh Freese (The Vandals, Perfect Circle) played drums on this album - possibly the best punk drummer ever and one of the best drummers in the world. Okay, now for the track-by-track analysis (I don't rate A, B, C, or 4/5 or 9/10 or whatever, just attempt to describe the songs and/or give my opinion of them): 1. Neocon - This reminds me of the first track of AFI's `Black Sails in the Sunset' - just an introduction that I can see them playing live to start off a show, not really a song though. 2. The Noose - A very fast punk song with great guitar and drum playing. 3. Long Way Home - Another fast punk song - I like the lyrics to this one. 4. Hit That - The first radio single is about infidelity destroying families. In the lyrics booklet there is a great picture of an ice sculpture of a family in the sun. This song to me is a mix of the hard punk songs Offspring are so good at, and the catchy pop songs that a lot of their fans and myself wish they wouldn't make. 5. Race Against Myself - Another good fast punk song. 6. Can't Get My Head Around You - The best song on the album - reminds me of Staring at the Sun from Americana only better. Great lyrics, this is one of the best songs they've ever done. 7. The Worst Hangover Ever - Should be titled The Worst Offspring Song Ever, I skip this one every time. They go from what kind of songs they should make with #6 to what kind of songs they should not make with #7. This sounds like the horrifically bad Why Don't You Get a Job from Americana. 8. Never Gonna Find Me - They now go back to the good type of Offspring songs, I love the way this one transitions into the next song. 9. Lightning Rod - A great song with great lyrics. 10. Spare Me the Details - I read the lyrics before listening to the album, and thought they were pretty lame but after hearing it I decided it actually is a pretty good song. The first half is acoustic and the second half is electric. The lyrics are similar to Self Esteem from Smash. 11. Da Hui - This song is about North Shore O'ahu surfing, and is the reason the unedited version of the album has a `Parental Advisory' label. A very fast song with Dexter yelling `I won't **** with Da Hui' over and over. A lesson in Hawaiian - the word `haole' pronounced like `howly' means a person of white/European ancestry. 12. When You're in Prison - I don't know why they put this on the album. Overall the album indeed seems a song or two too short, as other reviewers have noted. I enjoy listening to all tracks except for 7 and 12. Ten good tracks is better than 99% of music artists can do. So yes, it's worth buying. I would rate this album as better than The Offspring, Ignition, and Americana. Smash, Ixnay, Conspiracy, and Splinter are the best Offspring albums so if you are considering buying some of their CDs check these ones out and remember what I said above about words that warrant editing, which most people will probably care less about but some may want to know which albums they can play around their families or loan to their little sister and which ones they can't.

INCREDABLE Dec 24, 2003 This cd is one of the best by the offspring. I thought every song on it was incredible. If their was one cd I'd by from the Offspring, it would definetly be Splinter!
