Don't let a few bad songs ruin how good this little album is Oct 19, 2008 How could AC/DC top Back In Black and For Those About To Rock? They couldn't.
So instead they put out a rocker and tried really hard to make and market a no-frills record with a lot of energy and focus.
I remember seeing them for the first time on this tour in 1983, they always opened with "Guns For Hire." A great forgotten AC/DC song along with the title track, "Rising Power," "Nervous Shakedown," "Bedlam In Belgium" and "This House Is On Fire."
The forgettable songs are "Badlands," "Brain Shake," "Landslide" and "Deep In The Hole." They aren't terrible, simply mediocre, repetitive songs that don't stand out at all.
After "Fly On The Wall" I quit paying attention to AC/DC for most of my life, as far as their newer music goes, aside from their brief return to glory with the "Who Made Who" soundtrack. Younger fans certainly picked them up from there and to the present.
While Bon Scott is another band to me, arguably a better one, the first four albums AC/DC produced with Brian Johnson are some of the finest heavy rock music ever made.

collusionary disrespect Jul 27, 2008 Everyone knows the deal with this album. BACK IN BLACK and FTATR had reached multimillion sales and AC DC had reached a zenith few bands in rock ever hope to reach just a few years removed from their darkest hour.
Inevitably,When a band gets *this* popular, backlash creeps up and threatens to destroy what they had worked so hard to achieve. Just ask KISS. But unlike KISS, the Boys Down Under did all they could to retain the classic rock sound they were known for and made no effort to change their trademark formula.
Whenever I load this up, I think about how unfair this album gets treated. I'll admit the tone and 'wall of sound' power have been fractionally subdued. But the songs here for the most part are on par with their previous two chart-busters. And this album flows better than the oft-forced FTATR. "Landslide", "Brainshake" and "Flick of the Switch" and "Rising Power" are guiltless romps that fit perfectly among classics of other albums. And the others? They can do nothing to dissuade fans from getting. Get yours today for dirt cheap and stop the hatin'. :D

a very classic album! Jul 09, 2008 AC/DC is a veteran band. they definitely proved it in the 1980's with album after album. their sound has scarcely changed. they will probably be rocking until doomsday. this album is definitely a classic and rightfully so. I like the song "This House Is On Fire" but the rest of the album is good too. I cannot wait for their new album to come out.
