DIDO "LIFE FOR RENT" Nov 30, 2008 "Life For Rent" equalled Dido's first album, her music, style and voice are all kept pretty much the same. "Sand In My Shoes" is probably the only exception as it's a little bit dancey, not in the music sense, I just mean you could dance around a little bit to the song, on "No Angel" there wasn't any dancey songs.
I think the 4 singles she chose to release off the album were all good choices, "This Land Is Mine" and "See The Sun" could have also been good choices for singles, but I'd say that she picked the right ones.
"Stoned" is a great track, the music is very electronic, I like it. "Mary's In India" is a nice little song, it has a good little story. "See You When You're 40" is one of my favourites (along with "White Flag," "Life For Rent" and "Don't Leave Home") for her vocals.
Basically it's just a great album, another 10 out of 10 from Dido. I haven't heard the new album yet, Santa should be bringing it for me :)

Pure Listening Bliss Apr 05, 2008 Life For Rent is an excellent album through and through, in fact I can say honestly it's one of my favorites in my entire collection. The singles "White Flag" and "Sand in My Shoes" typify the tone and character of the other tracks. Unlike some other records, ones in which you listen to your favorite single then leave it on the shelf, this one has what it takes to be a classic.

Dido's Perfect Follow Up to 'No Angel.' Mar 25, 2008 Let me join in the chorus of five-star reviews to praise this perfect pop album. Dido (whose full name is Dido Florian Cloud de Bounevialle O'Malley Armstrong) first caught my attention when I heard her song "Thank You" on the Sliding Doors soundtrack (which Eminem sampled in his UK number-one single, "Stan"). However, her breakthrough occurred a year later with the release of No Angel, which has since sold twelve million copies worldwide. Dido's second album, Life for Rent, was released in September, 2003. I first heard its hit single, "White Flag" while walking down a street in Paris, and recognized Dido's familiar voice immediately. (I will always associate the song with that moment in Paris, and the lyrics will always remind me with an old love interest who once lived in Nice.) Life for Rent picks up where No Angel left off with its poetic, melancholic at times, trip hop songs. Dido's third, long-awaited album is currently in production and is due later this year (September 23, 2008). The complete setlist of sure-to-get-stuck-in-your-head-songs includes:
1. White Flag
2. Stoned
3. Life For Rent
4. Mary's in India
5. See You When You're 40
6. Don't Leave Home
7. Who Makes You Feel
8. Sand In My Shoes
9. Do You Have a Little Time
10. This Land is Mine
11. See the Sun (followed by 2:01 seconds of silence and then the hidden track "Closer").

Dido Mar 17, 2008 I wasn't sure I would like this album having bought it for just one song.
Instead it's rarely out of the CD player an I have become a reluctant Dido listener..lol This is a good buy if you like emotive songs that lay the soul bare. I like the lyric play so the song writing is what does it for me as well as the deep atmostpheric music.
