Their Finest Album, Excelent CD Version Jul 31, 2008 Bought this about a month ago and was really worth it, cool music, nice artwork, bonus DVD, what else could you want? may not be the most original music, but it's as well done and fresh as we need it nowadays
Their first keeps being the best of the 2 albums so far, each song is good, and the Bonus DVD is a nice touch, also the artwork is better in my opinion than the us one.
Strokes fans; get it while it lasts! Strokes haters: what the h-ell are you doing here?!

LET ME SAVE YOU A LOT OF TIME Jul 22, 2006 This is important, If you order the one titled:
Is This It (Bonus DVD) (Special Limited Edition) [ENHANCED] [LIMITED EDITION]
YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!! I'm sure it's a great cd but you have to order it from the amazon stores by people that are very unreliable.
I had ordered it because I liked the artwork on it more than the [UK] version. Its the exact same CD!! I had baught the U.S. one from a place called
"woody's books"
and "vdowarehouse"
here off amazon and they never came.
YOU MUST BUY DIRECTLY FROM AMAZON.com (way safer) Thats why this one is a good choice, once I had ordered it from here (amazon.com) it had came earlier than the 4-6 weeks. It came in 3 days!
Besides who cares about the artwork, ignore the controversy (all it is is a naked girl with a black glove. WHO CARES!!) Now that I own it I have changed my mind and noticed the artwork is really good on this cd. The best artwork on any of their cds in my opinion!
Anyways it's the music that counts. Which is exactly the same as the U.S. version.
Plus aside from the three videos that are on it's included dvd there are two never aired shows on there that I'm not sure if the U.S. version has.

This IS It! Apr 18, 2006 Think back to April/June 2001...! Remember how crap the musical landscape was? Nothing but Limp nu-metal, tired hip-hop and Pop Idol wannabe's. Thank the lord for the Strokes. With a bunch of great tunes and a fab image, they made this masterpiece; the best debut album since Definitely Maybe and the catalyst for a whole new generation of rock n'roll bands. The album is a true classic and there is no Killers, Franz Ferdinand or Arctic Monkeys without it. Buy it. Love it. ESSENTIAL!!!
the real first album Mar 31, 2006 There are only two problems with the Strokes' Is This It:
1) they should have kept this original artwork that was marketed in Europe rather than fear they were going to offend someone. It's not like it's "Smell The Glove."
2) New York City Cops is a great, great song and way better than the middle-of-the-road replacement they stuck on at the last minute because they were afraid of, once again, offending someone in the wake of September 11. It's true: New York City cops ain't too smart!
Lesson to all aspiring artists: when in doubt, take risks.

Catchy as ever... Oct 31, 2005 I had no idea this is the "UK issue," when I picked this up. I love this album. All the songs are very catchy. You just have to tap your foot. The cover art is interesting...I'm sure all the men picked this one up instead of the other version.
I think The Strokes should've kept NYC cops on the other version, it's way better than that other bland song they chucked on there. Anyway, I absolutely love the song "Last Nite." But all the other tracks are equally good.
I don't know, is this garage rock? Or "indie" (what is that btw?) Or just plain old rock? Don't ask me. (Because I wouldn't know.) All I know is that this is great rock. Whatever type it might be.
Highly recommended!
