Description:

The missing link between 'N Sync and the Goo Goo Dolls, SR-71 purvey carefully wrought, radio-friendly rock-pop on this 11-cut debut. The boyish, relatively clean-cut quartet have the harmonies, slick production, and songs that smack of a manufactured "boy band," which, surprisingly, they're not. There's a slight edge to the polished songs and approach that make tracks like "Politically Correct" and "Right Now" palatable for alternative radio. As a whole, however, the album is more noteworthy for Gil Norton's (Foo Fighters) rich production and the band's strong vocal harmonies and melodic songs. Lyrically, SR-71 are trite and true--clever homilies delivered sincerely by lead vocalist/guitarist Mitch Allan and his cute compatriots. Ditto the generally impeccable songs, which, while catchy, are not as memorable as matchbox twenty's, nor as poignant as the aforementioned Goos. For a moment, on "What a Mess," as befits the desperate romantic entreaty of the tune's title, SR-71 hints at a Nine Inch Nails-style darkness before segueing into middle-of-the-road territory. Perhaps the band unwittingly sum themselves up in "Non-Toxic": "Not much to say on this nontoxic, ordinary day." Not from this nontoxic, ordinary band, anyway. --Katherine Turman

5Absolutely Superb!  Aug 27, 2008
SR-71 is one of the greatest and most creative bands of all times, and their first studio release, Now You See Inside, is absolutely superb - one of the best albums of all time. If you truly listen to the words in these songs, particularly "Alive", you will really begin to understand what makes this outstanding music.

SR-71 is one of those forgotten bands that is very underappreciated. Nearly every song on this CD is way above average. Unlike other bands that have grown immensely popular, which tend to have one district sound for each and every song, SR-71 truly delivers entertaining music, with clear differences between each track. Now You Seen Inside is a collection of unique rock songs with a pop flare, complete with excellent writing and singing by lead member Mitch Allan.

"Right Now" was the only hit from this album, and unfortunately the only true hit for SR-71, and it's not even the best song on this CD. "What A Mess", "Politically Correct", "Another Night Alone", and "Alive" are the best songs featured on this album. Of all the songs, the only ones that do not stand out as leaders are "Non Toxic" and "Paul McCartney" - all others truly deserve a perfect rating.

Although the best SR-71 songs are not featured on this album, it's hard to compare Now You See Inside with their later releases, which tend to be far heavier and less pop-rock, when taken as a whole, this CD may be the best SR-71 album.

5One of my top 5 albums  Mar 22, 2007
I've been listening to SR-71 for 5 years now, and their first album is still (by far) my favorite. It is the perfect mix of pop and punk - something no other band seems to have gotten right. I never get tired of this album, my favorite songs being the entertaining 'Politically Correct' and 'Alive' - a ballad of strength in the face of physical abuse. I can't say enough good things about this CD, the only disappointment is that SR-71's following albums couldn't match its calibur.

1OMG, I love this album  Jul 01, 2006
^^that's what someone who likes garbage that is not original at all would say about this album. The singer tries his hardest to sound like Deryck from Sum 41 and fails. This album makes a good drink coaster or doorstop. If you are lacking one of those things in your house, this album is perfect for you. For fans of doorstops, coasters, and oh yeah, book ends. Go check out some good music, like Sum 41 and Underoath.

5perfect pretty muchs sums it up  Mar 02, 2006
I have a cd collection of over 1000 cds, and I have some serious classics, and this album is definetly in my top 10. They are not like all the punk/emo/hardcore bands (which I really like actually) you see everywhere. They are different, better. Catchy tunes, powerful lyrics, simple and yet perfect songs. Writing a song and filling it with wonderful huge solos, makes the song amazing, if you have the skills, you can do it. Making a simple song with simple chords and simple riffs sound as great as sr-71 does, however, that is what I call the work of a genius. And there's Mitch Allan of course. You just don't expect someone that hot to be that talented.

3I liked it but...  Feb 17, 2006
3 out of 5 stars meaning I like it. I really enjoyed the first two songs (which were released as radio singles) and the rest of the songs weren't bad either. I don't necessarily hate any song on here but after the first 2, none seem to really stick out in my memory. The rest seem to work well if your, say, shuffling your iPOD and come across one of them. But this album just doesn't have enough to it that makes me want to sit down and listen to the whole thing through. So I liked it, but you should definately preview this before buying because in all likelyhood you'll like the first 2 but that'll be it.
