Play belongs in every players collection Jan 08, 2009 I knew Brad Paisley was a great picker--but I didn't know what a great PLAYER he is. There is homage to nearly every kind of music on "Play"--from country, to jazz, to rock, to bluegrass. And there is so much of the same paid to other great guitar players. There is a bit of Chet Atkins, Les Paul, Eric Johnson, Stevie Ray--and I think I even heard a bit of Tommy Emmanuel. Brad's guitar is truly an extension of his body--just read the album liner notes and you will find out that the guitar is everything to Brad. These notes alone are worth the price of the CD. And the playing--impeccable and some great guests to share the spotlight. This CD is a must for every guitar player's collection.
instrumental sound track Jan 06, 2009 it is not your typical Brad Paisley music--I was disappointed in that it is mostly instrumental.
Brad Paisley is a genius Jan 06, 2009 Brad Paisley has outdone himself, which is saying a lot after a string of outstanding albums. If you are a fan of guitar songs and instrumental work, this album is a must. A ton of huge names make guest appearances, showing the respect Paisley commands among musicians. Do yourself a favor and buy Play.
One of the Best Country CD's of the Year Jan 04, 2009 This CD shows Brad's strong talents in regards to diverse musical styles, with some bluegrass, country, jazz and other styles of guitar music featured. He throws in just enough songs with vocals to keep us connected to that part of him, but it's the guitar work and diversity of style that shine here.
This CD should give Kenny's Lucky Old Sun a run for the money as best country cd of the year.
I'm mighty impressed.

Cracked me up! Dec 23, 2008 This is a really fun (funny?) CD with great playing. Rarely does music make you laugh but it's really obvious that everyone was having a riot playing these tunes. I can almost feel the musicians cracking up. You don't have to be into country to enjoy this CD. Brad holds his own with most all guitarists out there and the music here is very "up". Tom
